Chic in Soho: BDDW

I happened to be in Soho Friday with my camera so I stopped by a few stores and showrooms.  I haven't been in BDDW in a while and it's clear I should stop by more often.  The furniture is always amazing but I really loved the autumn inspired wall hangings. They also seem to hold archery competitions in the showroom.  Don't see something like that very often in New York.  But more importantly, I wonder how I can get myself invited to participate.

Chic in NY: Anya Hindmarch Madison Avenue

I've been a huge fan of Anya Hindmarch since I bought my first pair of her shoes at Harrod's on a trip to London in 2005. They were petrol colored calf hair and came in a box so beautiful that I've kept them to this day. Her tiny store on East 60th Street was she said "all I could afford when I was 18" and was the first store she opened outside the UK. She was grateful to the landlord for taking a chance on her and joked that she should invite him to her new two story Madison Avenue boutique.  I had a chance to tour the beautiful space today and love the collaboration between Anya and designer Ilse Crawford.  The antique furniture and carpets lend a homey feel that makes you want to stay a while. You probably will stay a while as you decide on monogram and color choices in the bespoke studio upstairs.  If you are at a loss as to what to get someone for Christmas, I suggest starting here.

Chic Shop: North Found & Co.

I've been staying with my friend Alice Ryan and her cute kids out on the North Fork of Long Island this week.  (You might remember Alice is married to Kirk Miller of Miller's Oath who I profiled here.) Alice was kind enough to introduce me to some of the local shops including North Found & Co. It's owned by Hadley Wiggins and her fiancé Daniele Marin, pictured above with their sweet dog.  It's a throw back to general stores of yesteryear with vintage items mixed a few new pieces that are all personally vetted. Definitely check it out when you head out east this weekend especially because they are having a 20% off sale.  They will also be open on Labor Day and plan to offer e-commerce by October.  Happy Shopping!

Love this weekend bag.

How fun would it be to have a basket of espadrilles at the front door for your beach house guests?!

Croquet anyone?
