Heavenly in the Hamptons

I'm packing my bag and getting ready for a weekend getaway in the Hamptons.  I always feel bad that the Hamptons gets such a bad rap. Granted the traffic is hideous and the party scene can be is a bit ridiculous but it's the closest place we harried New Yorkers have to unwind.  No wonder a client of Thomas Pheasant wanted this idyllic shingled cottage in Southampton the moment she saw the exterior.  The interior was another story.  It was designed with soothing neutrals that let the garden and exterior be the star.  I feel relaxed just looking at it. Ahhh.

A Visit to Aerin Southampton

There have been a lot of amazing opportunities that have come about because of my blog but Friday's trip to Southampton to spend the day with Aerin Lauder takes the cake. A group of ten editors and bloggers left New York early and headed out east where our first stop was the AERIN Southampton store. It's full of Aerin Lauder's new beauty collection, clothing and accessories, and home entertaining pieces, in addition to artwork, books, bikinis, and more. I've seen everything in the showroom but it was a treat to see everything together.  I especially love the jewelry and beauty products.  I've already scoped out the Flower District to order a tall topiary for my apartment after seeing them in the store.  Make sure you stop by when you're out East. 

This was only the tip of the iceberg though.  After shopping at the store and in Southampton village, we were driven in brand new Jaguars to Aerin's home for lunch and activities.  It was the house that Estée Lauder owned and was just as amazing as you can imagine.  Check back tomorrow for those pics.

AERIN Southampton

The Hamptons are always chic but this summer they are definitely getting a little more chic.  Today I was out in Wainscott for a preview of the new Serena & Lily store, photos to come tomorrow, and here is a peek into Aerin Lauder's new Southampton store.  Both are opening on Saturday, May 25th and staying open past the summer too which is the most exciting part. Now I just need a Hamptons house so I can visit them every weekend!
