On Sale

I have a bad habit of falling in love with very expensive sandals. Since you only get to wear them a few months of the year, I can't justify paying full price.  Lucky for me, a pair of Chloe Sandals I was admiring just went on sale at Barneys. It's a great time to take advantage of the after Christmas sales at Bergdorfs, Net-a-Porter, and J.Crew too.

Bon Weekend!

Bergdorf Goodman Holidays on Ice Windows

Last night, I stood out in the cold with hundreds of other people to witness the unveiling of the Bergdorf Goodman Holidays on Ice windows and it was well worth the cold hands. We were even treated to a show with acrobats climbing down the side of the building like Spider-Man and even swinging out over the crowd. As long time readers will know, they are my absolute favorite holiday windows. They never disappoint and this year was no exception. The theme of Holiday on Ice is a unique one too with the 4th of July window above being my favorite.  Due to time constraints with my upcoming trip, I only took my iPhone but I think the magic still translates regardless of the picture quality.  I highly recommend walking by in person to truly appreciate their beauty.

Happy Holidays on Ice!

Valentine's Day on ice reminds me of a Will Cotton painting.

Bergdorf Goodman Holidays on Ice Windows

Meet Manolo

Morning meetings mess me up.  It's usually the time I return emails and work on blog posts which is why I don't schedule them.  Since I'm behind on everything from one earlier today, I am posting a repeat post but it's from October 2010 and relevant for what's going on in New York this week. Not only can you see shoe designer Manolo Blahnik at his beautiful Georgian house in Bath, England by Ivan Terestchecnko here but you can meet him in person tomorrow at Bergdorf Goodman.  (For those of you who receive the email subscription, that means today.)  I've been looking for a pair of pointy toe pumps which are all the rage so I think I might have to stop by too.  See you there!

Meet Manolo

Thank you!

As I embark on my last book signing for Creativity at Work until the new year, I want to take the time to thank you all.  Thank you to everyone who has bought the book and sent me kind messages and thank you to all the showrooms and stores who have hosted signings.  They include, Design Legacy, Archivia Books, Indigo Books, Hudson Grace, Jayson Home, and Flair Home.

My friend recently told me the story of a book signing he attended for a fashion designer.  He was told that the designer would not speak to anyone.  What's the point of scheduling a signing if you're not going to be nice to your fans?!  The best part of book signings is meeting people in person whom I've only interacted with online.  It's fun to meet long time blog readers and those who just found the site.  I love asking what everyone does and I enjoy talking to those who work in design and those who wish they did. Hopefully, the book will inspire some to take a leap.

It's also been very exciting and surreal to see my Creativity at Work on the shelves of two of my favorite stores in New York, Bergdorfs and Barneys. The response has been great and I'm so thrilled that so many of you are enjoying it.  If you haven't picked up a copy yet, I hope you will check it out or consider it for a holiday gift. The ability to photograph and write a second book depends on how well the first one does, so I hope you will support the book and me.

I will announce book signings for 2013 as soon as they are confirmed.

Thank you and Happy Holidays!
