Chic in NY: Anya Hindmarch Madison Avenue

I've been a huge fan of Anya Hindmarch since I bought my first pair of her shoes at Harrod's on a trip to London in 2005. They were petrol colored calf hair and came in a box so beautiful that I've kept them to this day. Her tiny store on East 60th Street was she said "all I could afford when I was 18" and was the first store she opened outside the UK. She was grateful to the landlord for taking a chance on her and joked that she should invite him to her new two story Madison Avenue boutique.  I had a chance to tour the beautiful space today and love the collaboration between Anya and designer Ilse Crawford.  The antique furniture and carpets lend a homey feel that makes you want to stay a while. You probably will stay a while as you decide on monogram and color choices in the bespoke studio upstairs.  If you are at a loss as to what to get someone for Christmas, I suggest starting here.

Paule Ka Autumn 2013

It's going to be 90 degrees in New York today and you know what that means, it's time to start thinking about fall fashions. The Autumn/Winter 2013 Paule Ka campaign with model Angela Lindvall was just released today and has me excited for cooler weather and chicer clothes.  I'm also excited for the French brand's impending store opening on Madison Avenue.  Until then, I will make due with their summer pop up shop in the Hamptons.

Paule Ka Autumn 2013

Welcome to Mrs. John L. Strong

If you happen to be fall shopping on Madison Avenue this weekend, do stop by and see the new Mrs. John L. Strong petite boutique.  I call many things a jewel box but this space truly is a jewel box.  It took more than a year for all the details to come together but it was worth the wait. Just look at the cabinetry, ceiling and that floor!  I also thought the Chinoiserie secretary was an antique but it too was built specifically for the space. If you are claustrophobic or want to spend hours designing your stationery, you can always go upstairs to the spacious showroom which has also received a little refreshing. Or you can just wave to Yves as you walk by.  Happy Shopping!
