The House that Bunny Built

I walk down East 70th Street almost everyday which takes me past a very large townhouse with an imposing wall to keep out the prying eyes of the Upper East Side.  Thanks to Curbed, I now realize it belongs to Bunny Mellon and is on the market for a cool $46 Million via Sotheby's International Realty.  At that price, there will be a small contingent of buyers.  I really hope the new owners understand the history and significance of the beautiful courtyard and interiors and don't gut it into some modern white box. I also wish real estate sites didn't shoot everything with a wide lens.  It distorts the image but I think the photos still give you an idea of the beauty behind the wall.  Le sigh.

After a week of continuous 90+ degree days, I think a little yachting sounds like the perfect way to cool off. If you've got an extra $32.8 Million handy, you could be sailing around the Mediterranean with 35 of your closest friends on the Christina O, the yacht made famous by Jackie and Aristotle Onassis. In the world of mega yachts, they don't make them like this anymore. New yachts also can't say they've had guests like Sir Winston Churchill, John F. Kennedy, Eva Peron, John Paul Getty, John D. Rockefeller, John Wayne, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, and Prince Ranier and Grace Kelly, on board. If those walls could talk, imagine the stories they would tell! If any of you do buy it, please keep me in mind for one of the 35 spots.

Bon weekend!
