Masculine Chic

Since I've been posting a lot of feminine fashion recently, I thought I should take a little time out for the boys. As a follow up to my post about the fall 2013 J.Crew fashion presentation, I thought it might be interesting to look at how the menswear director for J.Crew, Frank Muytjens lives at home.  Lonny magazine featured his Brooklyn apartment and Elle Decor took a look at his upstate New York weekend home.  Both are filled with various vintage finds and inspiration that often makes it way into the men's collection. Both spaces also remind me of his office which I included in my book Creativity at Work.  Maybe I'll post a few of those pics next.  To read the whole Lonny story, click here and for Elle Decor, click here

Something Chic in Denmark

The new Lonny is online today and I immediately fell in love with this home outside Copenhagen, Denmark.  It's owned by Marianne Brandi and Keld Mikkelsen who head the fashion company Day Birger et Mikkelsen. The company description sounds like it could also be describing their home, the "vision was to bring beautiful, ethnic influences from his world travels and merge them with Scandinavian simplicity, masculine tailoring and vintage inspired styles. The result is a luxurious mix of modern classics, embellished details, exquisite craftsmanship and inventive elements." It also has a similar feeling to the home of Malene Birger who was once a designer for Day Birger et Mikkelsen and now has her own line By Malene Birger.  For more pics and the full story, head over to Lonny

On Location

I was very excited that my friends at Lonny not only wanted to feature photos from my new book Creativity at Work in their November 2012 issue but also give you a peek into my own workspace.  I would love to have a separate office but to keep overhead low, I work from a desk in the corner of my living room. I'm very lucky to have two large south facing windows that let in lots of light. I'm also surrounded my all of my favorite books and artwork just like the subjects in my book.  Lonny has an exclusive look at three subjects, landscape designer Miranda Brooks, J.Crew creative director Jenna Lyons, and Jack Gerson, the head of print and pattern for Coach. Hope you will pop over to Lonny and check them out.

Lovely in Lonny

I'm knee deep in preparations (styling, cleaning, hiding magazines) for a photo shoot in my apartment Friday.  That is definitely the reason for lighter posts this week. If you need something more to read, I highly suggest heading over to Lonny magazine to read the October issue.  It's chock full of fabulous interiors including this one from the Hotel du Marc in Reims, France which serves as a guest house for Veuve Clicquot.  When I'm done with my photo shoot, I'm going to see if they have any vacancy!
