Christmas Chic

Finding out who designed a room you found on tumblr is like a treasure hunt.  But sometimes it's worth the effort.  I love the Christmas decorations that David Phoenix used in his 2011 dining room at the Greystone Mansion in Los Angeles.  Most of you who don't live in the big city can probably find most of the elements including pine cones, greenery, and berries in your own backyard. Sometimes being chic don't cost a thing.

Bon Weekend

While you all were getting sick eating too much candy last night, I was really sick with a terrible sore throat. While I recover and try to get caught up on my blog posts, enjoy these chic and simple holiday decorations from the Upper East Side.  Remember, pumpkins aren't just for Halloween.

Fashionable Friday

New York fashion week just ended yesterday and I'm definitely still recovering.  While I take a moment to finally catch up on my emails and edit my photos, I leave you with this fashionable abode.  Domaine Home posted some photos this week and it reminded me how much I love this apartment owned by the Creative Director of Carolina Herrera, Herve Pierre.  If you look close, you'll notice that the apartment doesn't have any architectural details like moldings but the dramatic draperies, French furniture, and trompe l'oeil touches trick you into thinking it does. I still have the tear sheets of this apartment from when it was published in House & Garden more than 10 years ago and I'm amazed that it still looks just as chic today.

Bon Weekend

As I mentioned, I have spent most of the week with Alice Ryan and her five year old son and 16 month old daughter. It was a great introduction to the North Fork and a crash course in child rearing.  I have a new found appreciation for all parents and especially those who have boys with endless energy.  Some of the trees out East were already starting to turn which makes me sad that summer is almost over but also excited for autumn. Hope you enjoy the last unofficial weekend of summer wherever you are spending it.

Habitually Chic for Dempsey & Carroll

As someone who still loves to send handwritten letters and thank you notes, I am very excited about this latest collaboration and I look forward to more to come. 

I will definitely post a link for retail orders once it's up on the Dempsey & Carroll website but wanted to give you a little peek at part of my new stationery collaboration.  The French Blue Collection Cards with hand-painted white borders will feature four of my favorite French sayings including, bon weekend!, très chic, merci beaucoup, and c'est magnifique. There will be two of each saying in a pack of eight cards with matching envelopes with blue and orange striped linings.  Also available will be tablets and other fun pieces.
