Basquiat at Gagosian

If you want to brave the snow drifts in New York this weekend, I suggest an outing to the Gagosian Gallery on West 24th Street for the Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition.  Or you can wait for warmer weather since it runs through April 6, 2013.  This major exhibition will feature over fifty works by the artist who died before his time at the age of 27 in 1988. As with any Gagosian show, I can already tell this one is going to be amazing. I just might wait to see it until my street is plowed. Bon Weekend!

Picasso Black and White

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I braved the crowded to check out the new Picasso Black and White exhibition at the Guggenheim museum. While it's not as dynamic or inspiring as some of the colorful Picasso exhibitions at the Gagosian galleries recently, Picasso's work is amazing in any color. The white spiral gallery at the Guggenheim makes a wonderful complement to the art as well.  Hope you check it out the next time you're in New York.  Picasso Black and White runs through January 23, 2012.

Rolling Stones 50

There are few rock bands as iconic as the Rolling Stones and few who stay together fifty years.  To celebrate, they've put together a book highlighting their life together, Rolling Stones 50, that is filled with fabulous photos and amazing stories.  The Paley Center for Media in New York will also host a "gallery exhibit that includes seventy rare prints including reportage, live concert and studio sessions, and outtakes, giving us an unmatched, front-row look at every period of the band’s history." Iconic indeed.
