It's beginning to look a lot like...

I usually like to wait until after Thanksgiving to start posting about Christmas but since it's starting to look pretty festive around town, I figured what the heck.  Last week, Bunny Williams invited me to Treillage for lunch where the entire place was already decked out for the holidays.  I found out that I had missed Mr. Valentino and Giancarlo Giammetti by only a day so you know the place has to be great if they are shopping there too. My favorite items are the felt ornaments, the amazing blue and white porcelain, and the battery operated candles.  They will change your world.  They are designed to look exactly like uneven melted candles and the wick flickers like a real candle.  And the best part is that they come with a remote control.  Actually, the best part is that you don't have to worry about melted wax getting all over or your children and pets knocking them over during the hectic holidays.  Oh, and now you can shop Treillage online.  But you might want to stop by the store too, especially if you want to run into Mr. Valentino.

Bon Weekend

As I mentioned, I have spent most of the week with Alice Ryan and her five year old son and 16 month old daughter. It was a great introduction to the North Fork and a crash course in child rearing.  I have a new found appreciation for all parents and especially those who have boys with endless energy.  Some of the trees out East were already starting to turn which makes me sad that summer is almost over but also excited for autumn. Hope you enjoy the last unofficial weekend of summer wherever you are spending it.

Bon weekend!

Chic in Sag Harbor: Bloom

While walking in Sag Harbor last Sunday, I ran into interior designer Kristen McGinnis, who told me that I had to stop into Bloom (no website).  I've been to Sag Harbor many times but have never been to Bloom which I realize now was a huge shame.  Not only does it have the chicest exterior but owner Mona Nerenberg has carefully curated a beautiful selection of merchandise inside. She's also recently opened a new extension in the back so make sure you don't miss it.  There you will find an endless array of perfect hostess gifts and tableware. When I stopped by, there were two gentleman hanging out in the garden designed by Lisa Bynon and I could see why. It was a little oasis of peace.  I didn't want to leave and I warn you that you won't want to either.
